Clyde Kotze is a registered Counselling Psychologist.
He completed his Master Of Arts degree in Community-Based Counselling (MACC) at WITS University.
Clyde obtained his BSocSci Honours Psychology degree in 2016 at the South African College Of Applied Psychology. He completed his BA Degree in 2015 at The University Of Pretoria where he also worked at Pathways and was co-chair of Psyche (The Student Psychology Society).
He completed his internship at the Counselling & Career Development Unit at The University of Witwatersrand where he worked as part of a multidisciplinary team with a wide range of psychopathology & provided individual, group & family psychotherapeutic interventions.
Prior to qualifying as a Psychologist, Clyde worked at various NGO’s and Educational institutions as a Facilitator assisting children with special needs.
Clyde further completed a Master’s Thesis through the University of Witwatersrand that focused on Gay fathers and their role as parents within South Africa. His research was published in the State Of South Africa’s Fathers 2021.
Clyde adopts an integrative approach to psychotherapy, drawing primarily from solution focused & narrative therapies to suit the unique needs & experiences of his clients. He works with children, adolescents, adults, couples & families of all ages & backgrounds.
He has specialized skills in DBT & working with children and adults who are differently abled.
His experience includes working in a Psychiatric Hospital with a specialized focus in treating adolescents in- and out-patients and their families.
Clyde has a specific interest in working with everyday challenges. These everyday challenges include, but are not limited to: special needs, anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment problems, loss & bereavement, socio-cultural problems, sexuality, academic problems, overall psychological growth & deepening of self-awareness.
Clyde strives to assist his clients to get a better understanding of their presenting problems by exploring past experiences, while assisting clients to rediscover their strengths to empower them to overcome the obstacles in their lives.
Clyde has been happily married for the past 10 years and they enjoy traveling .
